Meet Our Fabulous Gymnastics Coaches
All our staff are fully vaccinated, have passed their NSW working with children check and hold current first aid qualifications.
TAMZIN McSWEENEY
Owner & Programme Director
Tamzin is the founder and programme director and is extremely passionate about child development through gymnastics. She relocated to Sydney with a vision to build the sport of gymnastics and improve young children's movement vocabulary through basic gymnastic skills. She is a qualified International Women's Artistic Gymnastics coach (FIG level 1) and holds an Advanced Coaching Accreditation through Gymnastics Australia.

KRISTINA KNAGGS
Team Leader
Kristina is a Newtown local and mum to two daughters under 4. Previously a competitive gymnast in England and most recently a Primary School Teaching Assistant. Kristina has a sharp understanding of how gymnastics can be used to support children inside and outside the gym and shares a huge passion for early childhood development, with a particular interest in providing an inclusive environment for neurodivergant children.

CAITLIN SO
Assistant Manager and Senior Coach
Caitlin has a passion for sports and movement, her love for sport has led her to various sporting competitions for hockey, karate and basketball. This passion led her to coaching various primary and high school teams in hockey. She is dedicated to her role as a coach, driven by her love for the sport, and hopes to create a space for children to make memorable experiences. Along with coaching at Gymkidz, Caitlin is currently studying to be a social worker at UNSW where she hopes to be able to work with children & vulnerable communities.
VERONICA CALEFATI
Senior Coach
Veronica has had a passion for health and exercise from a young age. She has vast experience working with children and is passionate about creating a fun, encouraging, and engaging environment for kids to learn. In addition to working at Gymkidz, Veronica is currently studying a Bachelor of Social Work at Sydney Uni, and enjoys powerlifting.

CAITLYN PURWA
Senior Coach
Caitlyn is enthusiastic and has a strong passion for teaching and gymnastics, along with extensive experience working with children. She has trained as an acrobat for 4 years and holds her coaching accreditation through Gymnastics Australia. Along with teaching at Gymkidz she is currently studying a Bachelor of Music and Education at UNSW

ERIN STEPHEN
Senior Coach
Erin first started gymnastics at the age of 4, and trained as a competitive gymnast in the United States for over a decade. Now as a coach, she aims to make the sport of gymnastics engaging and accessible for all kids, with a focus on developing fundamental skills in the process. In addition to coaching, Erin is studying her Juris Doctor at the University of Sydney Law School.

KYAH HUMPHRIES
Recreation & Kindergym Coach
Kyah was a competitive gymnast for many years, and holds her WAG Intermediate coaching accreditation through Gymnastics Australia. Before relocating to Newtown in February 2022, Kyah was a gymnastics instructor for over 3 years at Springloaded in Coffs Harbour. She is passionate about helping all her students reach their full potential and feel confident. Kyah is currently completing a degree in Exercise Physiology at the University of Sydney.
APRIL FORD
Junior Mentorship Coach
April is close with the Gymkidz family having grown her love for gymnastics over several years as a gymnast in our very own programme. We are proud to foster her passion for the sport and to further her new journey into coaching and child development. As well as gymnastics, April enjoys performing arts and has worked with younger children in choir, dance and drama activities. April hopes that children in her classes enjoy their experience learning new skills and having fun.
